Jumia & KEPSA register & train businesses to sell online during Covid-19
The Digital Commerce Program launched by eCommerce platform Jumia Kenya in partnership with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) will provide free online training ranging from the basics of e-commerce to operations, marketing, finance, and sales.
The program is aimed at saving jobs for distressed businesses affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, by selling their products online.
After the training, the businesses will then be provided with relevant tools to register and open their shops on Jumia at zero startup costs. This will open their businesses up to an online market of more than 4million Kenyans who visit the e-commerce platform, and who otherwise are unable to visit physical shops owing to the movement restrictions put in place to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Further, Jumia will cut its commissions to 1 percent for all businesses enrolling via the Digital Commerce Program for their first month on the platform and on vendors selling locally manufactured goods by 50 percent, as a way of promoting the Buy Kenya-Build Kenya Initiative.
